Concert – Affäre Dreyfuss (at Jazzland)

When: Saturday, May 20th, 2023, from 7 pm (Beginning of the concert: 9 pm)
Where: Jazzland, Franz-Josefs-Kai 29, 1010 Vienna
Meeting Point: Sat, 05/20/2023, 7 pm at the Entrance of Jazzland

Description:
In Jazzland – Vienna’s oldest jazz club – there is not only good music, but also good food. That’s why we meet there to have dinner together and then listen to the concert of “Affäre Dreyfuss” with Dominik Fuss (tp&flh), Martin Fuss (sax), Martin Harms (sax&fl), Max Tschida (p), Uli Langthaler (b) and Mario Gonzi (dm). The formation was founded in 2015 by Dominik, Florian and Martin Fuss. Based on the tradition of hard bop, the band develops a contemporary interpretation of modern jazz in their own compositions. The sextet dedicates the evening to the American pianist Duke Pearson, who released the album “Sweet Honey Bee” in 1967. Freddie Hubbard, James Spaulding, Joe Henderson, Ron Carter and Mickey Roker took part. We look forward to a mix of Pearson’s compositions and Affäre Dreyfuss’s own compositions.

Death must be a Viennese!
Song by Georg Kreisler and Topsy Küppers

The Viennese people always had a special relation to death which can be dived into at Vienna’s central cemetery where tourist tours and events such as concerts take place, bees are held for their honey and much other animal life can be found. The over 3 million “inhabitants” are of many different religions and next to famous names such as Beethoven, Falco, Curd Jürgens, you can find the graves of other “normal” Viennese citizens.
Before you leave the cemetery don’t forget to pass by the souvenir shop to get a mug, t-shirt or whatever you fancy.
